The 1939 film that we all know and love was not the only adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s novel. The novel was adapted into a 13-minute silent film in 1910 and a second silent film in 1925. Both versions deviated significantly from the book. There have been countless spin-offs of The Wizard of Oz released since 1939, such as the 1978 film, The Wiz, and the 1985 Disney film, Return to Oz.
