Interesting fact:

Buddy Ebsen was originally cast as the Tin Man. Nine days into production, however, he was rushed to the emergency room because of a severe allergic reaction to the aluminium powder makeup. His reaction was so severe, he nearly died and had to be replaced. Jack Haley took over the role, and, lucky for him, the Tin Man makeup was tweaked from powder into paste. Ebsen soon found success in the role of Jed Clampett in the hit CBS series The Beverly Hillbillies!
