50 pilgrims and 90 Wampanoag Indians celebrated the first Thanksgiving in the autumn of 1621. Believe it or not, the feast lasted for three days! Despite historians believing that only five women were present, it was a woman, Sarah Josepha Hale, who lobbied President Abraham Lincoln 200 years after the first feast to officially make Thanksgiving a national holiday.
