The spice of cinnamon is native to Sri Lanka. Even today, the island provides around 90% of the world’s supply of cinnamon. Whilst trade boomed during the demands of the colonial ‘Spice Trail’, it has been going on since ancient times. Cinnamon was enjoyed by the Egyptians thousands of years before the birth of Christ. We guess they weren’t partaking in the cinnamon challenge though.
