Advice 2:
The minority language must be stressed at home. If a Spanish family is living in Germany, for example, the children need to be made aware that Spanish is the language they speak with their parents when at home.
This option is often adopted by parents that speak the same native language or are themselves bilingual. If both parents speak Spanish, the application of this rule will benefit the children in question, particularly if they have siblings for whom the same rule applies. The only disadvantage to this rule in this particular case is that the children may find it awkward to speak German with their parents when outside of the home.
