Probably the most famous painting in the world, the Mona Lisa was not painted on canvas, but on wood. The type of wood used was poplar and it is surprisingly quite a thin piece too! The Louvre Museum has stated that the wood has warped over time quite considerably. Who knows for how long it will last?
