The noctilucent cloud is the name of a cloud formation that hovers at around 60,000 m (200,000 feet) above the ground, making it the highest cloud in our atmosphere. It is too faint to be seen during the day but when sunlight from below the horizon illuminates them during twilight hours, they can then become visible to the naked eye.
