Interesting fact:

Dorothy’s recognizable ruby slippers were made out of silver in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz book series. For the film, the slippers were changed to jeweled ruby slippers to showcase the Technicolor technology at the time. Studio producers predicted that the red color would pop against the yellow brick road, and the prediction proved right!
