The Horse of a Different Color is a dazzling creature that carries Dorothy and her friends around the Emerald City when they first arrive. In order to achieve the horse’s purple, red, and yellow hue, the production team created Jell-O based tints and applied these tints to several horses. The gelatin powders were effective, creating a memorable scene in the movie. There was just one problem...the horses couldn’t stop licking the colorful sugar off their coats!
