Shirley Temple was considered for the role of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. She was 10 at the time and a box office sensation. The reason why she didn’t end up as Dorothy remains a Hollywood mystery, with some claiming it was because 20th Century Fox wouldn’t loan her to MGM. It can't be denied that Judy Garland's incredible singing voice was much stronger than Shirley Temple's, and that her Over the Rainbow became a classic for good reason!
