The Tetris theme song is based on a real Russian folk song called “Korobeiniki” from the 1800s. The song is about a street vendor trying to seduce a woman as they haggle over the price of goods. The vendor in the song agrees to marry the young woman when he returns home from selling his wares, but in the poem the song is based on, the man meets his end that same evening.
