Hashima Island was once the most densely-populated place on the planet, but now stands completely abandoned. It was home to a coal-mining factory which was the reason so many workers flocked here. When the ore ran out, the island population left. Today, the eerie island is a popular attraction for day-trippers from nearby Nagasaki, and even featured in the James Bond film Skyfall.
