Flamingos are undoubtedly fabulous. But what gives them their jazzy pink hue? It’s actually the beta-carotene in the crustaceans plankton that they eat. Take a flamingo away from their preferred environment, and they will turn a ghostly white. Then, they might as well just be oversized seagulls!
